Military Banner Program

Beaumont respects the enormous sacrifices made by those serving in our armed forces. Currently the City participates in the annual Veterans Expo, honors deceased servicemen on the Beaumont Veterans Memorial at City Hall, and will begin hosting an annual Veterans Day Ceremony. The addition of the banner program will provide an opportunity to honor and pay tribute to the courage, commitment, and heroism displayed by our active duty service personnel.

To participate, honoree must meet the following criteria:

  • Active duty member of the United States Armed Forces; and
  • A current resident of Beaumont or an immediate family member of a resident of Beaumont (spouse, parent, child, sibling, grandchildren).

Applications will be accepted throughout the year. Banners will be raised in the order that the application was received at available locations in the designated display areas. Applications must include:

  • An official military photo of the honoree – 5x7 or larger in his/her military uniform. Digital photograph resolution of 600 dpi or higher will also be accepted
  • Verification of military status
  • Photocopy of a driver’s license or photo I.D. verifying the Beaumont address of service person or family member
  • Optional donation of $250.00

Location of the banner will be at the City's discretion. Every effort will be made to accommodate the location(s) requested of the applicant. Banners will be installed as adequate numbers of applications warrant a cost effective installation, but no less than twice a year, in May and November.

Banners will be displayed for a period of a minimum of two (2) years. When a banner is removed from display, it will be presented to the honoree or applicant at a future City Council meeting. If, after two (2) years, the honoree is still on active duty in the Armed Forces and the condition of the banner is no longer worthy of display, the banner can be replaced at market cost.  Applications submitted May through September will be installed in November; and applications submitted October through April will be installed in May.

The City of Beaumont is NOT responsible for replacing banners that are stolen, damaged, or destroyed due to age, vandalism, or any acts of nature including high winds. If a banner is stolen, damaged, or destroyed due to age, vandalism, or any acts of nature including high winds the banner will be removed, cleaned and returned to the family. To replace a banner, the service member’s family may pay for the cost to replace/repair and install a replacement.
