Chief's Advisory Board
The Beaumont Police Department is committed to a Community Policing Model of Governance. To that end, the mission of the Chief’s Advisory Board is to act as a resource for the Chief in the formation of strategies, development of policing concepts and increasing public awareness regarding policy issues.
The primary purpose of the Chief’s Advisory Board is to provide a forum with key stakeholders regarding law enforcement policies within the community and is comprised of a diverse cross-section of community activists, business leaders and citizens representing both the City of Beaumont and the San Gorgonio Pass area.
- The Board is designed to provide for member input on department policies and procedures.
- The Board is designed for open discussion regarding trends in law enforcement such as: uses of force, police pursuits and other significant police issues.
- The Board will have no input or discussion regarding specific employee personnel issues.
- This Board will act solely in an advisory capacity and will not be involved in Department decision making at any level.
- The Board is expected to provide input on topics the Chief of Police deems appropriate and timely. Each member of the Board will be expected to contribute.
The policy of the Beaumont Police Department is to establish and maintain a Chief’s Advisory Board. The goal of the Chief’s Advisory Board is to provide a forum for police-community interaction to address public safety and related issues in order to further enhance the quality of life in our community. In doing so, the Chief’s Advisory Board is intended to reinforce our values of the PRIDE concept which is the framework of our “Commitment to Community”:

The number of members of the Chief’s Advisory Board should be at least 7 persons, but not more than 12 persons. The Chief’s Advisory Board shall be composed of a cross-section of the community. Invitations to prospective members will be sent by the Office of the Chief of Police. Members should include:
- Community Hospital
- Criminal Justice Community, including:
- Criminal Justice Education (Community Colleges)
- District Attorney’s Office
- Local Community based social services organizations related to:
- Child Protection
- Diverse Community Organizations
- Drug and Alcohol Services
- Interdenominational Faith-based Organizations
- Mental Health
- Members of the Business Community of the City of Beaumont (both large and small businesses)
- Residents of the City of Beaumont
- Beaumont Chamber of Commerce
- Beaumont Unified School District
Terms are limited to two years to allow for greater participation by all interested parties. A two-year extension for sitting board members will be considered on an individual basis at the pleasure of the Chief of Police. At the discretion of the Chief of Police, a board member may be excused from further participation in the event if it is deemed necessary for the benefit of the Board as a whole.
The Chief’s Community Advisory Board (CAB) will meet on a regular schedule as determined by the members of the Board and an agenda will be prepared and distributed.
Staff support to the Chief’s Advisory Board is provided through the Office of the Chief of Police. The Community Police Sergeant is the Police Department’s liaison to the Chief’s Advisory Board and the Public Information Officer acts as the Recording Secretary. In this capacity, the Public Information Officer will:
- Record the proceedings of meetings of the Chief’s Advisory Board (i.e. minutes)
- Disseminate information, including minutes of meetings, to members of the Chief’s Advisory Board
- Maintain all records related to the Chief’s Advisory Board
