The City of Beaumont is excited to announce that applications are open for the 4th Annual Beaumont Youth Council—a unique opportunity for high school students to get involved in local government, build leadership skills, and make a difference in their community.
What is the Youth Council?
The Beaumont Youth Council (BYC) is made up of local high school students who serve as an advisory group to the City Council. Members meet monthly to discuss youth-related issues, support city events, and lead volunteer projects that give back to the community.
This is a hands-on leadership program where students get real-world experience, including opportunities to shadow City staff, tour City facilities, and organize their own community initiatives.
Who Can Apply?
Students must:
Be entering 10th, 11th, or 12th grade
Live in or attend high school in Beaumont
Have at least a 2.5 GPA and be in good academic standing
Be able to attend monthly meetings and participate in events
Have access to email and their own transportation
What to Expect
Monthly meetings held the second Tuesday of each month at 4:30 p.m. at the Beaumont Civic Center
Volunteer and service opportunities throughout the year
Team-building events, including a student retreat and leadership workshops
A chance to elect a Youth Council Board of Directors
