The City of Beaumont Police Department announces the conviction of a local babysitter involved in a serious child endangerment case. On October 10, 2024, Heather Lyn Greenman, 37, pled guilty and was convicted of two counts of Willful Child Cruelty with Great Bodily Injury and two counts of Dissuading a Witness/Victim. Greenman was found guilty in the Riverside Superior Court and sentenced to 20 years in state prison after a complex two-month investigation conducted by the Beaumont Police Department.
The Beaumont Police Department responded to an at-home daycare center, after a report of a 16-month-old child who suffered an injury from a fall, and later succumbed to the injuries. Officers launched an investigation into the death after the Riverside County Coroner’s Office deemed it suspicious, citing injuries that included significant swelling to the head and brain.
Due to the severity of the situation, a two-month investigation involving multiple detectives and specialists commenced. The investigation included detailed interviews of witnesses, family members, and medical professionals, as well as the collection of forensic evidence and collaboration with the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department. After working on the case extensively, Beaumont Police Officers identified numerous other children who were victims of abuse, including current and former daycare children. Greenman was arrested and charged with homicide and numerous other charges of child abuse.
“We knew early on that this case would require a deep, methodical investigation to ensure no stone was left unturned,” said Chief of Police Sean Thuilliez. “Our investigators worked diligently over two months to gather every piece of evidence that ultimately led to this conviction. We are so grateful for this team of tireless dedicated professionals and for the cooperation of the affected families.”
The Beaumont Police Department remains committed to ensuring the safety of the children in our community and encourages parents and guardians to report any suspicions of neglect or abuse immediately. For additional information or questions, please contact Sergeant Brent Conan via 951-572-3910.
