The City of Beaumont Police Department is actively investigating a homicide involving the use of a vehicle. Officers responded to the scene at 10:59 p.m. on October 15, 2024, located at the 400 block of E. 1st Street following a report of a traffic collision.
After further investigation, officers determined that a driver of a pick-up truck used their vehicle to strike a victim, running over a male subject. The driver of the pick-up truck fled the area before the arrival of law enforcement and the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
At 11:33 p.m., the Beaumont Police Department was advised of a pick-up truck, matching the suspect vehicle, involved in a traffic collision in the unincorporated area of Cabazon. Officers responded to the area and detained the suspect, who was thought to be involved in the incident in Beaumont. The incident is currently being investigated as a homicide. At this time there are no additional details, but investigators believe this act was intentional.
The suspect is currently in custody but is receiving medical treatment for injuries sustained during the unrelated traffic collision. The Riverside County District Attorney’s Office is reviewing the case to determine the appropriate charges. Further information will be forthcoming.
