Update, after District Attorney review of the case, the charges were enhanced to include Murder in the 1st Degree. The bail was also set to $1 million.
Beaumont, CA - Last week, members of the Beaumont Police Department Crime Suppression Unit arrested Heather Greenman, age 37, of Beaumont, for child abuse resulting in the death of a child. The investigation began on April 26, 2023, when the Beaumont Police Department was notified by the Riverside County Coroner’s Office, of the death of a 15-month-old child, who had suffered a head-injury while in the custody of a babysitter. The babysitter, identified as Greenman, reported the child had fallen while running and was transported to an area hospital for swelling of the head and bleeding on the brain. The child subsequently succumbed to the injuries at the hospital. During the incident, the child was being cared for at the babysitter’s home in 14200 block of Barolo Way in the City of Beaumont.
After an extensive investigation resulting in the service of several search warrants. Officers were able to locate a second victim, a two-year old child, who had suffered from several serious injuries while in Greenman’s care, but were not previously reported. That child was also taken care of at the family’s home in the City of Beaumont, but was not hospitalized at the time.
Greenman was arrested on Thursday, June 29, 2023, in the City of Banning and was booked at Smith Correctional Facility in Banning on charges of child abuse and abuse resulting in death.
